Wiker Award: White Oaks Employee Recognized for her Exemplary Care & ServiceNovember 17, 2011. Randall Residence presented the 2011 Wiker Service Award to White Oaks Assisted Living employee Heather Smith on Thursday, November 17. Smith, who was nominated by her co-workers and the Executive Director because of her kind, caring, hard-working and respectful attitude to the residents. Her constant smile and positive attitude make her pleasant to everyone she comes in contact with. A co-worker said of Smith, “She is a kind-hearted person who treats her residents like she would her own grandparents and the way she would like to be treated.”
“Heather is an excellent recipient of the Wiker Service Award. This award recognizes employees for the dignity and respect they give to each resident, while promoting individuality,” said Chuck Randall, President of Randall Residence. He continued to say, “She has a natural ability to connect with the residents on a personal level, has an energetic spirit and loves a good laugh that brightens any day.” A resident described Smith this way, “She is attentive and honest. She knows how to handle me. When I giver her heck, she gives is right back.”
The Wiker Service Award was created in 2009 in memory of long-time White Oaks employee, Dottie Wiker. Wiker worked for Randall Residence for 25 years and was known for her attention to resident details and a constant smile.
Employees from all six of the Randall Residences (Michigan and Ohio) are eligible to be nominated for the award. A trophy with the winner’s name will remain on display at the winning residence for a year.
