Staff longevity is a hallmark of Governor's Village community. We build a team of hard workers who take pride in the loving care given to our residents. As the senior care industry has changed, the Governor's Village team has stayed on the cutting edge and raised the bar in quality of care issues. Listening to and acting on the needs and concerns of residents and staff is our mission.
The Wiker Service Award was created in 2009 in the memory of long-time White Oaks employee, Dottie Wiker. Wiker worked for Randall Residence for 25 years and was known for her attention to resident details, and a constant smile. Employees from all six of the Randall Residences (Michigan and Ohio) are eligible to be nominated for the award. A trophy with the winner's name will remain on display at the winning residence for a year. Anyone may submit a Nomination Form. Follow this link to download the form and find out more about the Wiker Award.

She is responsible for overseeing and maintaining all daily operations of the assisted living and dementia care community, including financial management, staff development, and regulatory compliance. Prior to Randall Residence, Michelle has worked for other senior living companies and real estate investment groups.

“I like to take care of the residents here. Working here reminded me of taking care of my grandparents, which I did when I was younger. It is nice to have a job that when you wake up in the morning you can’t wait to get to work. I look forward to being in Eleanor’s room so she can finish telling me about her husband or I wonder what Rose is thinking about today. They all tell wonderful stories. They are like our grandparents. It is wonderful!”

“I’ve been doing this for 20 years now. I really like it. The residents are like family! They touch my heart. I hear great life stories. Sometimes they tell a caregiver a confidence, things they wouldn’t tell other people. They have lost their independence and often have lost family members and many friends. It feels good to be there for them.”

“I have been an Activities Director since 1994, and have worked here at Governor’s village for 4 years. I enjoy working with the residents! Each one of the residents has a unique personality and interesting stories to tell. I learn something new from them every day!”

“Our residents are wonderful. They have such great wisdom. I love coming into work. I just did jury duty and couldn’t wait to come back to work. I missed everybody. We have a great time here. It is just like a family!”

“I enjoy seeing the smiles on the faces of the residents. Knowing we have provided healthy food that they like is rewarding. It makes me happy to see them happy!”
